Why does my car get hot?

My coolant gauge inside the car reads that the car runs at either half or more. The car is simply getting too hot so how do I fix this? I changed the thermostat already but didn't make much of a difference, and my coolant is full too. Another thing just so everyone knows... coolant leaked just a little bit just underneath the thermostat. Idk if this is a line or what, but it seemed to slow down a little bit. So confused... All help appreciated! Why does my car get hot?could also be an issue with the water pump.. if you see coolant leaking under the car a lot of times that can be the source... I would say that you could possibly have a leaky head gasket if you car is erratically getting hot...

are you getting any white smoke at start up?

then again if you have electric fans be sure to check that they are operating as they should...Why does my car get hot?what kind of car is it?the coolant dripping could be from when you changed the thermostat.but check your fluid level.if its low,it could be that you didn't put enough coolant in it after you changed the thermostat or you are burning coolant or it is leaking somewheres.sometimes if a car has ac,leaves or debris can get up between the radiator and ac radiator making it hard for air to go through them and the vehicle will run hotter. Why does my car get hot?Check your radiator and make sure it is circulating like it should.
