Person seeing ghost? Medical Problem?

Ok my Dad is now 78 years old, never before has he ever told me anything about this. Just recently he has started seeing %26quot;ghost/people%26quot; in his house. He says they leave crumbs all over, change the thermostat in his house, run up and down the stairs and etc... His wife just passed away 2 years ago, and about just 5 months ago this has started, all the doctors don't seem to think its any big deal. He says you can touch them and feel them, he describes there features too, and how tall, he says ones about chest level and ones about up to your pelvis, and then also eye level. Just yesterday he called 911 saying that there were 4-6 people in his house and he wanted them out, when i got there, the police said they searched the whole house and they couldn't find anything. He functions normal as far as remembering everybody's names, and much more, just seeing the people in his house is the only abnormal thing. He says they will disappear and then reappear, but you can touch, feel and see them, He says they can hide well and every time someone comes around then they hope over the deck outside, which if someone did it would probably kill them. and then once everyone leaves they comeback out. He also told me one of them came up behind him and hit him with a PVC pipe, theres nothing to shows he was hit. Whats wrong with him, I was just wondering if any Doctors or anybody out there knew why hes seeing all this? ThanksPerson seeing ghost? Medical Problem?senility.Person seeing ghost? Medical Problem?Your grandfather is psychotic. He is hallucinating and seems to be exhibiting some evidence of paranoia.

If his current doctor is foolishly ignoring this, he is doing your grandfather a grave disservice. A malpractice level disservice. For your grandfather's (and his doctor's) sake, I hope the reason this hasn't been directly and aggressively addressed is that your grandfather has not brought it specifically to their attention.

Your grandfather needs to see a psychiatrist and/or a neurologist so he can be properly evaluated and treated. Psychosis in the elderly is NOT normal. The reason could be anything from the onset of dementia to a brain tumor to depression with psychotic features (the majority of which are readily treatable).

~Dr. B.~Person seeing ghost? Medical Problem? When you became old everything that you were doing in your past time it's going to explain or to renew again to the old person. So maybe this could be strange for you but i don't meant it %26quot;your father were doing bad things specially if he were in 911, he was helping with them maybe he was working with them in that time maybe he had best friends who dies with the situation of 911 or maybe he had something secrets with them or still he have%26quot;. So this could be the problem that he sees those people %26quot;disappear and reappear%26quot;. Maybe it also could be your father were joining or doing worshiping with bad spirit like (evil things). As we know Devil is the worst, he is the first doing bad things, maybe he wants him to pass away easily. So you might want to take him to church and repent and confess and believe in Jesus Christ and obey his ways and words after that you will get everlasting rest. And pray for him %26quot;May God give hime mercy and grace%26quot;.

Wish You Bestie

Best Luck..

Bubbles in my overflow tank?

ok, my 95 maxima was overheating, i change the thermostat n radiator. for a while it was still overheating. but now it only overheat due to coolant lost in the overflow tank....sometime ago i ask about bubbbles in my ovrflow tank...the radiator was pushing coolant into my overfow tank and there was bubbles in it...everyone say its a headgasket prob. i went and got it pressure check an they cud not find no leak... SO WHAT ELSE COULD MAKE THE BUBBLES AND COOLANT GO TO MY OVERFLOW TANK?? can a faulty water pump do that? right now it runs fine. but its still pushing coolant in the overflow bottle but the bubbles are little less...i know its not the radiator or cap...how can i no for sure what causing these bubbles ??Bubbles in my overflow tank?It is a blown head gasket, there is a kit you can buy to detect carbon monoxide in the coolant.A pressure check might not find the problem.Bubbles in my overflow tank?are you sure it's not the cap? have you replaced it? The cap is what regulates the pressure in your cooling system. If the spring in the cap wears out or breaks, it would allow coolant back into your reservoir. Make sure if you buy a new cap, it has the right lb. rating (psi)

No-frost fridge problem NATIONAL fridge,,its stop cooling and over freeezing of backside panel condenser?

im having a problem regarding my 2door no-frost fridge, first i noticed its stop cooling, then i try to open the back panel of the freezer then i saw some ice formation all around the condenser its too much, then i asked my technician he told me to changed the thermostat fuse then i did, what happen two consecutive days its working but after that the same problem again, what i did i try to defrost the fridge becouse there is full of ice formation again in the condenser, then i rotate clockwise the timer then its works again, after that only 2 days its working then same problem again its stop cooling.everytime i try to defrost its working,i was thinking may the main problem is the defrost heater,it could be? what about the defrost timer do i have to change also? how will i find the defrost heater? where is it located?No-frost fridge problem NATIONAL fridge,,its stop cooling and over freeezing of backside panel condenser?First, that is the evaporator, not condenser.

You probably didn't defrost it well or it would work longer before building up ice again. You might have to cycle the defrost timer several times (you don;t have to do it all at once) to get it to clear. Each time it defrosts it can be up to 33 minutes before it restarts. It should come back on by itself when the defrost times out. If it doesn't the timer is bad.

If it defrosts by turning the timer to the defrost cycle then the timer is bad, every thing else is working. Replace the timer.

If turning the timer to defrost does NOT turn on the heater then the heater or defrost terminator (bimetal thermostat on the coils) is bad and you need to change the one that is open.

Good LuckNo-frost fridge problem NATIONAL fridge,,its stop cooling and over freeezing of backside panel condenser?Usually it's located inside the top part of the fridge either on the side or at the back, just turn it to off , if you cannot find it just unplug he fridge from the wall ,and the ice buildup ice will melt , it might take overnight to get it all gone , make sure that the line is clear and not bent, keep the fridge away from the wall air needs to circulate, never push the fridge to the wall , keep the door closed to keep whatever is in there cool or take the meat over to a friends or a relative's place to keep in their freezer for a day or two.No-frost fridge problem NATIONAL fridge,,its stop cooling and over freeezing of backside panel condenser?check the coils on the bottom of the frig and mack Sheree thy are not clogged up. Thy should be clean at least once a year.

Hi can anyone tell me how to get to the heater matrix on a peugeot 306 thanks and how to remove it ?

im driving my father-in-laws Peugeot 306 no heat in the car ive changed the thermostat in the engine still no heat so i suppose its the heater matrix so how hard is it to get to and to get out of the dash board and to change would anyone know please help if any ones got a link to a Peugeot on line workshop manuel please could i have it thanks to anyone who might be able to help me in advanceHi can anyone tell me how to get to the heater matrix on a peugeot 306 thanks and how to remove it ?You can get a Haynes manual for only a few squid on eBay - eg. links below, and many more. Would definitely recommend it as the heater matrix/motor unit is typically pretty well buried under the dash and complex to get out.

Lexus say it doesn't happen but want 拢1100 to look; Bosch say it doesn't either-overheating GS300. Any ideas?

Any time I drive my car over 10 miles it cooks up. There was no %26quot;event%26quot; - no bang, nothing, it just started to run hot. Lexus changed the thermostat for 128! and it was okay on short runs. I drove 350 miles up the M1, fine. Coming back, just straight up into red. Now Lexus said it didn't happen when they had the car but wanted 1100 to do the cylinder head gasket in case; as no oil or water was cross-contaminating, I thought I'd try elsewhere. Bosch centre couldn't get it to overheat either, but said the fluid coupling fan was not running. Next time I took it 15miles it cooked up. I drove it back at the top of the red and showed them. Having been switched off for a few mins before restarting, the fan was running, temperature plummeting. As they were at a loss, nothing has happened since. The car is in limbo - can't fix it, can't use it, can't sell it (except at huge loss). Does anyone Know how to fix this or where to start?Lexus say it doesn't happen but want 拢1100 to look; Bosch say it doesn't either-overheating GS300. Any ideas?are you saying that the fan doesn't work occassionally?

have you checked the power supply to the coupling fan, and earth to see if cables are broken- transit might loosen a connection.... sorry can't be more specific... lexus not my model.

good luck...Lexus say it doesn't happen but want 拢1100 to look; Bosch say it doesn't either-overheating GS300. Any ideas?Sounds like a faulty temperature sensor, easy to change.Lexus say it doesn't happen but want 拢1100 to look; Bosch say it doesn't either-overheating GS300. Any ideas?WOW... Bosch really is bad at electronics. So far I've heard nothing, but bad things... I had my VW Passat's ABS Bosch made module malfunction. And so did many others, it's a actually a factory error, they made a whole line of cars like that! With faulty electrical boards! I would check up on this and see if you can find others like you, or in similar position. Try websites that are run by Lexus enthusiasts, forum boards, etc. i.e. like this VW one, vwvortex.com, so you have an idea. I found out what was wrong with my module on this kind of forums, then also found out how to fix it myself for an extremely low price! If this is an often occurring problem there will be third party companies that can help you out! Look into it. It'll end up being much cheaper than dealing with the stealer-ships, and you'll probably still get at least a 3 to 5 yr. warranty, depending who you deal with.Lexus say it doesn't happen but want 拢1100 to look; Bosch say it doesn't either-overheating GS300. Any ideas?Scrap it.

  • Are there any heating/furnace pros here?

I have a 5 yr. old mobile home with a Nordyne/Intertherm CH/CA system. The heater worked fine last winter %26amp; the AC was great this summer. When I lit the pilot last month, the heater did not work right. When it comes on it only runs for about 11/2 min. max. It blows air well, but it isn't very warm, almost like it's blowing the heat from the pilot only. I changed the thermostat %26amp; thermocouple but it made no difference. Also, the pilot flame isn't small like it should be, it's pretty big %26amp; doesn't change whether the furnace is running or not. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be and how much to fix? I should add that although it worked fine last year, when it would shut off I could hear a noise like a brushing sound coming from the furnace %26amp; then a thud at the end. It doesn't make these noises now.Are there any heating/furnace pros here?you need a heating %26amp; air Repairman. A problem like this is out of the scope of answers, that you will be able to get here. Are there any heating/furnace pros here?Wrong place to ask honey. Try www.fixya.comAre there any heating/furnace pros here? With all probability, it simply needs an annual cleaning. It could be that the jet is clogged. (That's the thing inside that shoots the flame)Are there any heating/furnace pros here? The bigger pilot flame is from someone messing around with the gas valve. They didn't understand what screws they were turning and increased the pressure.

Is the gas valve sitting on Pilot or open/on/etc. You'd be shocked how often that's the problem.

When you changed the thermostat, did you set the anticipator correctly?

It sounds like you're getting the call for heat and the unit is running it's prepurge, finding a problem and turning itself off. It could be a vacuum hose is disconnected, a defect in the gas valve, cracked heat exchanger, obstruction in the exhaust vent, etc.

Take the covers off the furnace and tape down the door safety switch (Tape don't hold, because I've been shocked by faulty door switches in the past). Try turning the furnace on and watching what happens. See if the burners actually light. If they do light, describe what the flames do (Lift off the burners, flail about in an unstable manner, roll off the burners, burn back in to the burners, etc.).

The thud you would hear was the heat exchanger cooling down. A giant plate of metal is heated and air is moved past it. That's how the furnace works.

If it's a cracked heat exchanger, you're looking at a new furnace (you can replace the heat exchanger but the furnace is the heat exchanger. You can repair the heat exchanger, but it's a temp. fix and you're playing dice with your life)

If it's a gas valve problem, Maybe 250 to 300 total. It'll be 15 min to a half hour to change out, run the junk and what not.

It's hard to know what the problem is without watching it in action. You could run the cycle and find the owners manual. When you take the door covers off, there'll be a flashing green or red (or both) light(s). You can use that and the owners manual to find the error code (sometimes it's on the back of the door panel).

Motor is a complete mess -- ideas?

I have a 99 Chevy Tracker. On the way to work the other morning, the temperature gauge stopped working..it wouldn't show the motor heating up. The heater blew out ice cold air no matter how long I drove it. Eventually it overheated and I immediately pulled over. I changed the thermostat and babied it back home (had no choice but to get it home), but it still didn't change the problem. After tearing down the motor a bit, I noticed I have milky coolant/oil throughout the entire motor. The radiator is all milk too. Obviously the oil/antifreeze is mixing, and I'm hoping it is just a blown head gasket and not cracked head/block. My question is though, there is oil/antifreeze in the intake, the throttle body, and I'm sure in the intake manifold itself as well. How would this happen, and whats the best way to clean that out?Motor is a complete mess -- ideas?Newer vehicles than '95 don't put up with that kind of abuse without cracking their heads. Basically, the head gasket went bad first, and leaked exhaust gasses into the cooling system. But driving it home probably pushed it over the edge. Remove the dirty removable parts and blast them at a car wash if you don't have a pressure washer or parts washer. You will have to flush out the block with motor flush.

Note: if equipped with dexacool......then the motor is probably toast. dexacool is an organic acid and turns into a nasty semi-solid when it hits the oil and cloggs the oil pump and passages. You can clean it if you like, but it will rattle from the tore up bearings in it.Motor is a complete mess -- ideas?Clean it up when you have it apart to see if(hopefully) the head gasket is your problem.

It got there because the combustion or PSI in the cylinders is usually 150psi plus. so greater pressure pushes it any where it can

Have a real close look at your cylinder wall, pistons and rings while you have the head off.

Rotate the engine by hand and check the entire cylinder wall (full stroke) of each cylinder for scoring

If scored...sorry to say, but I think you know

Good luckMotor is a complete mess -- ideas? You are probably right about a blown head gasket. The pressure from the cylinders could be forcing the fluid out into the intake manifold.Motor is a complete mess -- ideas? You would really have to tear it completely down to assess the damage. It sounds like a catastrophic engine failure though. If I were in your shoes, I would try to get a complete engine from a reputable salvage yard. If you do that, make sure you completely flush the radiator before installing another engine. Otherwise, any contaminants from your old engine could ruin your new one. Good Luck!!

ps. cool name!Motor is a complete mess -- ideas?Another tricky question to answer from the armchair. The head bolts directly to the intake manifold (meaning you are going to have to remove the intake manifold to pull the head) %26amp; although it has never happened to me in a hundred thousand miles of abusing automobiles, I suppose it is possible that you could blow a yhead gasket bad enough to that the coolant in the cylinderjakets got mixed with the oil in the galleys %26amp; got sprayed all into everything.

I can imagine it was quite a mess! Must have been running like crap, huh? Does that tracker have aluminum heads %26amp;/or block -- and -- just how hot did it get %26amp; for how long? Aluminum heads don't much like to get way overheated; it's possible you warped the head?

Well, to simply change the gasket, the head will have to come off, meaning that basically everything on top of the engine will have to come off (yuk!), so there is how you will have access to cleaning that gunk out (plenty of good carcinogenic degreasers available in spray cans at any parts store, again, I know this from experience). Once the head is pulled out, you can look right down into the cylinders, %26amp; wipe them clean (definitely important, coolant does not compress, so on the compression stroke you could bend a rod). At that point, %26amp; I'm simply throwing haphazard advice now, you can take the head to a machine shop %26amp; have it checked for warpage, %26amp; if you can get some dye penatrant, I suppose you could check your block for cracks.

Sorry to hear about that mess, %26amp; sorry for not being able to offer much. Good luck.Motor is a complete mess -- ideas? If you don't have white exhaust it is a cracked block. I wouldn't bother cleaning it because you're going to need a new (used) short block. To clean the parts after replacement just do a long flush...it still won't clean out the oil but you'll get enough to not hinder operation.

    Dodge Ram heater problems?

I have a 1998 dodge ram 5.2l and i have a few problems with my heater. First of all on the setting with the heater blowing right at you, only the vents on the driver side blow air and the passenger vents will not. Then i am hearing a loud noise under the passenger dashboard which im pretty sure is the fan/motor, it just sounds like a really loud fan (louder than normal). This noise comes and goes and it gets louder the higher the fan is blowing. Another problem i am having is when my engine is at a high RPM the fan will switch from the vents in your face to the defrost vents. I am pretty sure i have to change a check valve somewhere but i do not know which one or where. Another problem is that my heater does not really blow hot air just warm, i believe this is because my engine heat is always a little low, it will never even reach half it is usually around 1/3 even once fully warmed up. I believe changing my thermostat will fix this but im not sure. My last problem is that when my fan is blowing on the defrost setting there is sometimes a rotten smell.

If you know how to fix any of these problem that would be greatly appreciatedDodge Ram heater problems?you need to pull the heater box out and clean it and check the vent doors real good on it, chances are one isn't opening up all the way and the thermostat may be causing some of the problems with it also, and the low heat problem can also be caused by a clogged heater core, the noise could be the heater motor going bad also,if i had that one i would pull th box out and go through it real good and make sure everything was working right before i put it back together again, good luck with it.Dodge Ram heater problems?I am sure you should change the thermostat.

May have a problem in your heater/ac unit(big black box behind the dash). If the mode or blend(cold to hot) cable or actuator(vacuum) is not right, all of these things could occur. The whole unit gets manifold vacuum through the firewall and it uses a one-way check valve(very small). All these things need a vacuum pump to check em. It is only about thirty bucks and very useful for other things. Also I think a foreign object(animal even) or something is caught up in the unit. If you remove the whole dash and /or lift it up, the whole box comes out. It fastens on the top so try first fixing it in the truck, remove the blower motor(if possible), do the thermostat, and take out the blower motor cage and see what you got. Some systems are electrically operated and may require a computer to repair(BCM). You can reset all of the motors and use a scanner to test that type.

How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be "greener"?

I am not willing to give up my cars, daily driver is a car with a supercharged V8 engine, the other vehicle is a V8 full sized SUV that is mainly used to tow stuff)

I am not willing to install low-flow fixtures. I like a powerful commode and a shower head that will drench you in 3 seconds flat.

I will not change my diet. Humans did not work themselves up to the top of the food chain to eat salad.

I will not sacrifice capability of any product (appliances, cleaning solutions, electronics, etc.) in exchange for eco-friendliness.

I will not live in a smaller house or apartment, I like having a lawn, a garage, and an in-ground pool.

I am unwilling to change the thermostat in my house. It stays at 70 degrees year-round.

How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?Why change, Al Global Warming Gore hasn't. Until he and all the Hollywood elletes do they can bite my coservative a s s. I see them change I might think about it. Untill then they can take their hypocracy and bite my A S S.How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?Use fabric grocery bags, install solar panels on your roof, turn off lights and unplug electronics when you go away for a while, insulate your house better so that you can keep it at 70 for cheaper and while saving energy. etc, etc, etc. there are literally millions of ways to go green without sacrificing any of the things you mentionHow can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?Hybrid! Here's one for you. Trade your SUV gas for a deisel and use veg oil.

http://www.greasecar.com/How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?Let's be honest here, if the person is unwilling to change much, who's to think they would do anything at all. People like this only change if they are forced to. Sorry for not giving you %26quot;go green%26quot; answers, but let's be real about the situation. How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?well you can do just ONE THING, that is: CONVINCE YOURSELF PAL. theres' too much for you to realize.

    JUST THINK OF THESE:

think of the what cost it to make your cars, the metals used, energy, transport just to bring you to a nearby supermarket.

think of the people who suffer from air pollution caused by the smoke in your car

think of how many people die because their natural source of food was destoryed

think of how your children will think of you when they realized that yo really don;t want to help the planet

WHAT I MEAN IS YOU CAN DO MORE THAN WHAT YOU THINK. REALLY, I MEAN IT.How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?If you do heavy duty towing you probably can't give up the SUV, if you get around to replacing it you could look at a diesel for lower CO2 emissions (and they tend to be better for towing anyway) although they also have higher particulate emissions. Though a supercharged V8 really isn't needed (or even of any actual benefit) for most driving tasks (unless you're a hoon) although it's probably only worth replacing if you were going to replace it anyway.

Avoiding so called 'organic' foods is good for the planet since they are grown in such a way that they use too much land along with requiring excessive soil tilling (no-till farming with GMOs looks to be the way of the future and is probably where conventional agriculture will head).

Most mainstream energy efficient products are designed to get their energy efficiency without compromising the product (at least most of the time).

Though a thermostat set that high is pretty amazing, how do you survive such high temperatures?

Some will suggest carbon offsetting which are also known as modern day indulgences but that won't actually help since most carbon offsetting schemes give the money for things that would have been done anyway (and therefore aren't helping), or at least whatever they haven't taken for themselves as profit. Carbon offsetting that actually would help tends to be too expensive to compete with the frauds (at least until we get around to banning the frauds) and probably too expensive for anyone to be interested in it.How can someone who is not will to sacrifice much be %26quot;greener%26quot;?I consider myself pretty green and I don't think I have sacraficed anything. You can get a powerful and big SUV that can have lower emissions and better fuel efficinecy. My husband has a highlander hybrid and with a v6 and 2 electric motors it has great power, it has a 3500 # towing capacity, seats 7 and still gets 25mpg, nav system, leather seats and has low emissions.

I have an amazing low flow shower head that feels great, I have a dual flush commode that has a power assist, so it uses .8 gal or 1.6 gal and no need to double flush. How much water do you need to rinse your toothbrush? I have flow restrictors on all my faucets.

I am an omnivore, I do get my beef, pork and poultry from a local organic ranch. I shop at a local organic farmers market and get better quality and fresher, healthier produce than you can get at a grocery store.

I use natural cleaners and I've never had a stain or mess that took any more work or got any less clean than using conventional cleaners. The only difference I see, is I spend less money and I'm not inhaling lung damaging fumes or filling my home with pesticides, hormone mimicers, or endocrine inhibitors. I made this change for my own health, it is a bonus that it is also healthier for the planet. I have energy star appliances and they all work better, quieter and use less water, electricity and detergent than the old models.

I have a lawn, although I'm pulling areas out and putting raised beds that will use a drip water system where I'll plant fresh herbs and a cutting garden, so I can have fresh flowers in my home all year. I live in a newer 2000 sf home, and I have no intention on moving. I have however made my home more energy efficient without compromising style. I have a in ground pool, I chose a salt system because it is easier on my hair and skin and it just so happens better for the environment, I heat it with a solar system which can't be seen on the roof. I also have an electric PV system which dramatically reduces my energy bill.

It is unhealthy to live in a refrigerator, I have my thermostat set at 80 in the summer and I use a pellet stove in the winter and I've found I get sick less often, I have an easier time not overheating when I'm outside. It is amazing how having a fan moving the air can make you feel cooler.

So, it none of these areas can be modified, perhaps the reduce area of going green will appeal to you, When you buy high quality items that are classics, they will last for years and reduce the need to replace them. If you buy only what you need you will waste less. Use food before it expires, organize your home so you don't buy things you have but can't find. Consider the packaging on the items you purchase. Drive less, consolidate trips, ride share, keep your car in top condition and get the most out of your car.

These changes are on the horizon for all of us, we are using our resources at an unsustainable rate, so the sooner you start making changes the easier it will be.

What should I do about this room mate problem? (this is somewhat long)?

Your Open QuestionShow me another 禄

How do i handle this roommate problem? (this is quiet long)?

Ok. so I have 2 room mates and there is another girl who stays with the friend. (the 3rd person is not on the lease). I just moved in about 3 wks ago and we all pay 390.00 per month and we have an electricity allowance which is like a 120.00 bucks. Now 2 girls who has been living here have been very annoying about the air conditioner . I put the AC on 73 or 74 and each time I do she goes back behind me and changes it to like 79 or 80. Mind you this is Louisiana so our summers are brutal. She is extremely fearful that we will have overages however I talked to another friend who stays in this apt. complex and they keep their AC on like 65 or something and the barely go over on their allowance, and when they do it's by a minute amount.

My other room mate told me that the girls were like this prior to me moving in and she didn't say anything about it. I don't wanna be the one to stir up trouble but u guys know that putting the AC on 79 or 80 practically ensures that it won't come on and it's so hot in here.

I just went in there a sec. ago while they were in there to put it on a lower temp. and they almost freaked out about it. They claim that the AC won't go off by itself so that's why they keep it so high, but in reality they are doing this bc they don't won't to go over. Which when people generally go over in electricity it amounts everyone in the house paying about 15.00 dollars each. WHich is really no big deal.

What should I do about this problem bc I cannot sleep in the heat and it's really getting annoying when I change the thermostat and they go back behind me and push it up to like 80. Any advice. What should I do about this room mate problem? (this is somewhat long)? This may sound like a strange solution to your problem, but here's what I'd advise:

Find a person who knows about electricity (an electrical engineering student or even a professional electrician) and ask them to figure out how much per hour it costs to run your air conditioning. After all, when it's off it's off, and when it's on it's on, no matter where the thermostat is set.

Armed with this information, you can discuss this rationally with your roommates, and decide how many hours you can afford to run the air conditioning. It would be silly for you all to swelter if you can actually stay within your allowance, or even pay a nominal amount to be comfortable. Air conditioning does more than just cool the apartment -- it also reduces the humidity to a bearable level if the windows and doors are kept closed.

You could leave the air conditioning off when you're all away for the day, and turn it on when you return. It doesn't take long to cool a closed apartment.

A lot of problems can be solved just by %26quot;running the numbers%26quot;.What should I do about this room mate problem? • 1999 Sable-- No Heat?

Hi Everyone-We aren't getting any heat and we could hear a squealing noise. We just had a new radiator put in about 4 months ago and we keep checking it to make sure we have no leaks. The fluid was going down a little and we think we solved that problem by getting a new radiator cap. We live in Massachusetts and need the heat!! My question is--could it be a belt? Or maybe the water pump? Or just a thermostat? I guess i could take it to a service station and have them put it on a computer to find out, but--they charge so much and seeing xmas is right around the corner I am sort of strapped. I just had all new brakes put on and bought a new battery and also the radiator. Should we change the thermostat first and see if it's that? I'm so confused. My b/f will do the work although he isn't a mechanic but has helped others on their cars and he is pretty good. Any help will be very much appreciated and I will let Santa know how you tried to help me. HO HO HO. TYVM!!!!1999 Sable-- No Heat? The squealing is either the Serpentine Belt Tensioner or the Idler Pulley or a combination of the two. Given that this is a 99' Sable adn I've been bit by this one before I always recommend replacing both the complete tensioner assembly and the idler pulley at the same time. Both are highly prone to failure anyway.

That is not why your vehicle has no heat though.

Assuming your coolant level is good Sable's are also notorious for literally eating thermostats. On the very first really cold day of winter I will see in my shop on average 6-7 Taurus/Sable's that have thermostats that have either just failed or have literally fallen apart. This (along with the radiator cap) should have been replaced at the same time as the radiator. If your engine temperature guage is not rising quickly or not going up to normal operating temp that is a good indicator your T-stat is the problem.

A $60 coolant flush every other year would have prevented all of this.1999 Sable-- No Heat?I'd start with the thermostat, it's cheap enough to replace. But the squealing noise makes me think it's the water pump. Not so cheap or easy to replace.1999 Sable-- No Heat?you say you can hear a squealing noise,is it when you rev the engine,if it is when you rev the engine then the water pump has gone.but you would notice water coming out from under the engine.there are three possibilties for no heat (1) the sensor on the side of the engine block has gone(2) you have a airlock in your system that needs bleeding(3)like you said thermostat

hope this helps you1999 Sable-- No Heat?the squealing noise is from the belt slipping against the pulley or from the bearing on the pulley which is already kaputt.....try changing the belt or the pulley's bearing...1999 Sable-- No Heat?it my be a thermostat or the heat core my have air in it from the wen they changed the radiator but on a saab the themostat a job you want to do if you don't know what you are doing its only easy on some cars1999 Sable-- No Heat?Possible Bad Idler Pulley for the Belt Squeal?

I have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat I'm pretty sure its not the heater core?

i have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat im pretty sure its not the heater core i dont lose coolant. no other tell tale signs like smell or windows fogging. thermostat? or someone suggested maybe the valve that contorls the the amount of flow through the hearter core. when i looked it seemed to open and close fine when i moved the heater control maybe something internal in the valve? im going to change the thermostat and see how it goes. any other suggestions i would like to hear. thx all

oh and yes my coolant is topped up.I have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat I'm pretty sure its not the heater core?It sounds like the heater core needs to be pulled and boiled out because it is clogged and not much water is running thru it. You can take the hoses at the block loose and try to flush water thru the lines. Try one side then the other to make sure it is clean. If not help then need to take core out of car and get it flushed or replaced.

There is also the control valve that allows water to flow thru the heater core. Is the cable connected? Does it change positions when you move the lever?

Do you have air coming out of your vents when the fan is on? Does the air speed change on different settings? If no air or little air then it could be that something is blocking your heater core and not allowing air to flow thru it.

The thermostat only allows water to enter the radiator so that is not the problem.I have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat I'm pretty sure its not the heater core?try putting cardboard in front of the radiator. If it warms up then then it is definately your thermostat. Good luck and God bless.I have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat I'm pretty sure its not the heater core?thermostat!I have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat I'm pretty sure its not the heater core? Before changing the thermostat check the water temperature in the radiator to see if the thermostat is working. If it is not the heater core then the hot water is not getting to the heater core. Good luck and I hope you find the problem. There is not much to the heater system. It is just heater core and water.I have a 1990 tercel there is little or no heat I'm pretty sure its not the heater core?it is your heater core, not popped, but clogged. rust from parts inside your engine builds up and restricts coolant flow in heater core, its like its warm but over months it get cooler and cooler until it doesnt heat any more.

quick fix: find the coolant hoses that come from engine and into the firewall/heater core. disconnect hose, hook garden hose up and blow all the crap out backwards until water runs clear. hook back up, and make sure you have the right amount of coolant in it.

p.s. if your water pressure in your garden hose it to strong, it will pop a old heater core, so go slow

1997 Subaru Legacy Outback spilling coolant, overheats, then normal. What's the deal?

Car randomly overheated without warning. I got it towed home and had a friend change the thermostat. Drove it a couple of miles and it overheated, so it was not the thermostat.

I took it to a shop down the road. They had it ALL DAY and told me it is either a blown head gasket or a cracked cylinder head. They wanted to charge me $2300 for a blown head gasket!?!?? I drove the car home (2 miles) and it did not overheat.

My brother turned the car on and reved the engine for about 15 minutes to get warm it up. It did not overheat, gauge stayed in middle.

He decided to take it for a drive to see how it did. He got a few miles down the road and it overheated. He turned it off and let it cool down before driving again. He turned it back on and drove about 10 miles, NO PROBLEM!

When he got home, he looked under the car, and coolant was EVERYWHERE.. The whole underside of the car was soaked in coolant.

The radiator hose under the car is 'squisky' and could probably use replacing.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

There is no oil in the coolant and no coolant in the radiator. Also, no white smoke.

ANY ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! $2300 is REDICULOUS!!!1997 Subaru Legacy Outback spilling coolant, overheats, then normal. What's the deal? The repair shop is most likely correct. A leaking head gasket or cracked head can cause this. What happens is the gasket/crack leaks compression pressure into the cooling system, rather than coolant into the oil and vice versa.

How can I tell if my transmission has a computer(electrical) or mechanical Problem.?

So My car was having some overheating problems, and I knew that it was the thermostat. So I was going to change my thermostat and flush my cooling system because my car was overheating. And I was going to lift my car by driving it up a ramp, the ones you place in front of your wheels. And half way up the ramp I hear a pop, there was no grind at all, just one pop, not too loud but something popped. My car, 1995 Nissan Maxima automatic, now stays in neutral whether I put it on drive or reverse. Theres not grind at all, but its like it stays in neutral. And also while I was driving my car up the ramp, the car was overheating. Cause I had to get the parts from autozone, and was a bit over on the way back. I heard that the overheating could of caused the system to disengage the transmission. I have drained the oil and took out the transmission cover in the bottom. I checked the shifter cable, and the connection inside, and it seems to be moving normally. So how can I check if its an electrical problem? How can I tell if my transmission has a computer(electrical) or mechanical Problem.?99% probability you've broken something in the trans. Overheating the engine is highly unlikely to cause a trans problem. Driving to and from AutoZone is light duty to the transmission, so the trans oil would likely be between 200 and 300 degrees fahrenheit and quite happy there, even though the engine isn't. If you were pulling a heavy trailer out of Death Valley in August, that would be another story.

The pop implies something broke--a spline, a housing, a shaft, or something along those lines.

I believe Nissan uses Jatco automatics, not a Hydra-Matic, but generally pretty reliable. You might look to see if there's a typical high-mileage failure of the transmission model installed in your car.How can I tell if my transmission has a computer(electrical) or mechanical Problem.?mechanical problem not computer for the transmission only thing in the trans with wires are for neutral safety switch and a lock up solenoid for the torque converter when you over heat the trans you burn the frictions in the trans more than likely you have broken a planetary gear which is common for these transmissions

How do I fix My S-10 from ticking (lifter)?

I bought a 2003 ZR2 S-10 4.3 Vortec V6 in December. I drove it from Chicago to Detroit with no problems. I had the oil, trans and radiator flushed and changed. I changed the thermostat three weeks ago (Jan) because of overheating, and refilled the coolant. Now (Feb) I get a ticking when I start the truck cold, it goes away when the engine warms up. I hasn't made this noise before. The oil level is good and pressure is at 40. I've driven a Ford most of my life and wanted a change. Did I make a mistake buying a Chevy? How do I fix My S-10 from ticking (lifter)?cheap fix to flush lifters clean is to add a quart of automatic trans. fluid about 100 to 2000 miles before you change oil this should clean the lifters out if not you either have a stck lifter or maybe a cam going GOOD LUCKHow do I fix My S-10 from ticking (lifter)?keep oil fresh...ticking cause no oil on lifters on cold start and it takes a while to get there...it's cold ya know and thicker...or my dodge does that cause the bearings are going out on the idler pulley...maybe a belt slapping....i wouldn't worry too much as long as it runs good...How do I fix My S-10 from ticking (lifter)?I'd add a quart of Lucas oil treatment the next time you do a oil change instead of one of the quarts of oil.

  • Car overheating or is it the gauge?

I had to change the water pump on my car, and now the car's temperature gauge shows it is overheating, but it is weird because:

when the car is first started it will run at normal operating temperature (190) for a while, then after a little while once driving it will rise up to 220 degrees and more unless i put the heat on.

I changed the thermostat twice, radiator cap twice, and the temperature gauge sending unit twice and it still does this. It was totally fine until I had to change the water pump. It is just weird how it is fine when the car is first started, and after a little while the temperature starts to rise after a little while once driving the car.Car overheating or is it the gauge? When this happened to a previous car of mine, I had to replace the Mass Airflow System. Quite spendy. It even started to lock up the fuel system and would say that the gas cap was loose, which it was not.

I suggest seeking professional advice. Might be worth it to go to a place that is certified by your vehicle's manufacturer.

    Radiator fan not blowing?

    I have a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8L..

The engine gets REALLY hot after only about 5 minutes of driving (boiling hot, way hotter than a similar engine driven for only 5 minutes).. I'm starting to suspect that coolant is not circulating correctly. It gets so hot that even the rubber in the engine (for example - spark plug wires) are too hot to touch.

In addition, the radiator fan is not blowing. It wont even blow if MAX ac is on. Radiator fan fuse is fine.

What should I do? I think a good first step is to change the thermostat. Will this rectify my problem? Does a thermostat have anything to do with a radiator fan? Does a thermostat have anything to do with coolant circulation?

How do I test the radiator fan to see if the motor is working? I only have basic tools, what do I need to buy?

In addition, the belts %26quot;squeal%26quot; a bit loudly on this vehicle. Could this affect the coolant circulation or radiator fan operation?

Thanks for any help.Radiator fan not blowing?Start by checking the coolant level in the radiator. Make sure it's cool and not under pressure by squeezing the upper radiator hose. If it's full then your problem is probably only with the rad. fan. If it's low then top it off and see if that takes care of it. Then check for leaks.

Check the fan by turning the ac on high and tapping on the fan motor. If it comes on then replace the motor and recheck the overheating.Radiator fan not blowing?because the belt has a tendency to squeal, and you have a difficult time keeping an engine cool, i would assume that the water pump has failed or is failing in a manner that restricts its rotation. remove the belt and give the pump a twirl. if it does not spin easily if at all, then that is your problem.Radiator fan not blowing?check the thermostat and the fan should blow. put power through the motor and see if it turns. if not replace it. if it turns it is a sensor problemRadiator fan not blowing?take off fan ...if its run by the pulley then its your fan clutch that needs to be replaced ......... if its electric then take it off and check with a 12 volt battery ........ if it works its your temperature control switch or fan control switch [ some vehicles have two]Radiator fan not blowing?ON A CARAVAN IT HAS A MODULE FOR THE COOLANT FAN. IT IS LOCATED DR SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BEHIND FRONT BUMPER. ITS A SMALL SQUARE BOX. CALL DODGE THEY HAVE THEM. ITS HARD TO FIND HAS 2 MALL BOLTS.Radiator fan not blowing?Without the fan blowing the engine will overheat quickly while you're standing still. Moving fast will circulate air to cool it somewhat. To see if the fan (electric fan) works at all, try to power it with a wire from the battery positive to the fan itself. Replace it if it won't run. If you can jump the fan and make it go, check the fan RELAY. They burn out and cause the same situation you have too. The belts should be tight enough to not squeal. If they always squeal, it could be a loose belt, or a worn out or frozen water pump. If you take off the belt you should be able to easily turn the water pump by hand. If it won't turn or is real stiff, replace it.

I hope you shut the engine down quickly after you noticed it getting overheated. An overheated engine can be damaged by cracking or warping heads, bursting head gaskets, galling cylinders- you might be lucky and not have that much damage. But don't push you luck, you can still mess it up really badly by running it too hot.

I had a Mitsubishi/Dodge water pump freeze up. There was lots of constant belt squeal and the engine overheated. I was lucky to be able to fix it with a new water pump and head gasket.

    Heat Pump not keeping up?

I have a heat pump system and live in central NC. I have had the system checked out twice by two different companies. A couple of weeks ago the outside temperature was around 20ish. The heat pump system ran all night long and all day if it did not get above 38 degrees outside. I have a thermostat that allows you to see how long the system runs during a 24 hr period. Some days it ran hour for hour. Both companies came out and said the system is working fine. Most of the time when they checked it out, they set the thermostat to like 90 degrees and then checked everything. Well I just tried it. It is 41 degrees outside, the system has run attempting to reach 73 degrees and it was struggling at 71. I went to change the thermostat to 90 and it took like 15 mins to reach 75 degrees. Could it be the normal running heat strips are going bad?Heat Pump not keeping up?Heat pumps have 'emergency heat' which is electric resistance heat. When you set it to 90 degrees and the current temp is 71 it will kick in the electric resistance on MAX which will heat your house fast. When the temperature is close the heat pump is going to try to heat the house and as the temperature drops farther from the set point more and more electric resistance will be stepped in (starts on low and goes in small increments to it finally gets to the max)

Heat from the heat pump is 2-5 times cheaper than electric resistance heat. Your thermostat has settings on when to use the heat pump and when and how much electric resistance heat to use. Sounds to me that you have it set to step based on the temp difference. As it gets colder in your house more heat is called for, an as it gets warmer the heat turns down so it never actually gets to the set point but instead finds a happy spot colder than your set point. If you find it uncomfortable your hvac guy can re-program it to your desires.Heat Pump not keeping up?It's not the heat pump because you cycled the system when the outside temperature was 41 * with a temperature rise inside of 32 *. Heat pumps are better at air conditioning your house than heating it because when the outside air temperature falls below 32 * F heat transfer from the outside air to the freon at the condenser is poor. That is why these systems are equipped with auxiliary heat to supplement the heat pump with the heat loss on very cold days. Check us out @ Homelinepros .com.Heat Pump not keeping up?When you pushed it to 90, the heat strips should have fired and you then have normal furnace. Sounds like the strips are not working. The other possibility is the system is way undersized.Heat Pump not keeping up?It sounds fine. Heat pumps don't work well under 32. Emergency heat of it should kick on.

Having trouble with my 2001 Pontiac Montana.?

My van has been overheating. I added coolant and water. The mixture is fine. I have tested it. The heat also is not getting warm all the time. It will be cold, the temp gauge will go up past 3/4. I'm assuming the thermostat will open, the temp goes down to about 1/2 and then the heat will get warm for only a few minutes. The temp goes up again pretty quickly, the heat goes cold. I have noticed there is alot of browning grainy residue in the radiator. Could this be bad? Could the thermostat be not working properly? If i do need to change the thermostat, how in the world do you get to it? Any help is appreciated!Having trouble with my 2001 Pontiac Montana.?I have had the exact same symptoms with 2 GM cars. Same engine as your Montana. Dollars to doughnuts you have a bad intake manifold gasket. This is really common and a class action suit has been pending.Having trouble with my 2001 Pontiac Montana.?The residue is a sign that either the coolant has never been changed and needs changing asap or the rad is going on it and I suspect it's the rad. What you could do is flush out the rad or change the coolant but be sure to clean the system by running lots of water through it before adding new anti-freeze.If you notice that the same type of residue is building up you know the rad is more then likely shot.

Really your best bet is to have a rad shop check the system have then run a test on the system or change the rad , flush the system and see how it is then.Whatever you decide at least flush the system asap bec it needs it.Check all your other fluid levels especially the transmission fluid and oil bec if the transmission or oil fluids have residue it means you've major problems.

Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way the top rad hose is usually where you'll find the thermostat but in some vehicles it's not true.Be sure you just don't use straight water when you mix or top off the coolant bec really you need distilled water.I think it be a great idea for you to buy a service manual like a Haynes manual from walmart etc. Also flush kits are expensive but honestly if I knew the system had such residue I'd checking all the fluids , the rad etc and be flushing it asap.Having trouble with my 2001 Pontiac Montana.?It could the thermostat but if the level in the rad dropped to low air can be drawn in the cooling system and become trapped and cause overheating.the eng sets higher than the radiator so that means you have to bleed it at the engine.there is a bleeder screw located at the black pipe where heater bypass hose connects near water pump.also the thermostat is very difficult to get to .The exhaust crossover pipe is in the way so removing it might be your easiest way

    1996 mercury sable overheating?

I've got a 96 sable and it began to overheat on a trip to worlds of fun. i can only got about 20 city blocks before the temperature is topped out and the coolant begins to boil out. My neighbor (who is a mechanic) said its the thermostat, and since its a dual overhead cam, its going to cost around $300, money i don't have, working part time making minimum wage. I was just wondering if thermostat was the most logical answer to the problem and if so does anyone have instructions for how to change a thermostat on a DOHC. If this is relevant, since the car began overheating, my heater blows out only cold air.1996 mercury sable overheating?I think the problem is that the water pump is not circulating coolant, because you should have plenty of heat as long as hot coolant is being circulated into the heater core. Water pump vanes can corrode if you don't use de-ionized water. Keep in mind that I can't know this for sure. I think you can verify this by touching the top and bottom of the radiator when the engine has not been operated for long, but the coolant is very hot. Pick up a Chiltons or Haynes manual, and a set of basic tools, and you can do the job yourself.1996 mercury sable overheating? It going to required lots of removal of different parts to get to the themostat. I would call around for different labor price, your neighbor maybe be wanting to gouch you with $300.1996 mercury sable overheating? Is it your heater coil on the flywall?

How Do You Identify a Bad Water Pump?

My 2000 Pontiac Sunfire has been overheating and I recently changed the thermostat thinking that was the problem. The new thermostat didn't help and the engine is still over heating. I am starting to think it might be the water pump. How can I tell for sure? When I changed the thermostat and refilled the coolant tank I left the cap off and started the car to work out the air. I was told I should see bubbles in the tank but nothing happened, I thought this might be a sign of a bad water pump. I think I will be able to change the water pump on my own I just want to know for sure if that is the problem. How Do You Identify a Bad Water Pump?I agree with f100-supersabre's answer. And here's some more to ponder...

Chances are your water pump is just fine.

When was the last time, if ever, you serviced your cooling system? And by that I mean dumping the old anti-freeze, back flushing the system to include the heater core and refilling with fresh coolant.

If the answer is %26quot;never%26quot; then your radiator is probably toast. The internal passages are clogged and it does not dissipate heat effectively any more.

Another thing to consider: the electric cooling fan(s). How many does your car have?

With one fan, the fan will run: Anytime the A/C is switched on.

When the tempurature sensor in the cooling system rises above the

    preset value of the sensor.

With two fans: One will only and always operate when the A/C is switched on.

The second will operate in response to the preset value of the cooling system sensor.

Check the operation of the fan or fans. Turn on the A/C, the fan or one of the fans will turn on.

With one fan only, turn the A/C off and let the car idle until the

the single fan turns on in response to engine temperature.

With two fans, you can let the A/C run and let the car idle

until the second fan turns on in response to engine temp.

If the fans don't work as they should, the first place to look is for a blown fuse. High amp fuses are found in the engine bay in a seperate fuse box ...look for this ..pop the lid and check the fuses. A map for the fuse purpose/location is usually found under the lid. If the fuses look okay, then it may be a bad sensor or it might be a bad fan. The sensor is usually less expensive and easier to swap out than the fan assemblies.

Your cooling system, if has been neglected, may need both a radiator and some work on the fans if they prove less than up to snuff. How Do You Identify a Bad Water Pump?bubles would be a bad thing

if no bubbles then thermostat is usually whats wrong in these cars.

makre sure you bleed the air out of the black steel tube in front of the engine there is a bleeder screw on it

also makre sure the cooling fan and relay work by unplugging the CTS sensor on the driver side end of the head, black oval shaped two wire plug

takes a few seconds to kick onHow Do You Identify a Bad Water Pump?It could ALSO be %26quot;crud%26quot; build up in the radiator interior or road junk in the radiator fins.

A bad water pump USUALLY leaks and/or %26quot;squeals%26quot;How Do You Identify a Bad Water Pump?http://www.ehow.com/how_4829065_test-water-pump.html

    Step 1

Open the car hood and locate the thermostat on the top of the radiator lid. Pull the thermostat and start the car. Watch the temperature gauge carefully. If the water pump is working properly, the engine should take a long time to warm up (if it ever does). With the thermostat removed, the coolant should circulate continuously, making it harder for the engine to warm up. If you cannot tell if the car is heating up slow or not, move to Step 2.

    Step 2

Turn the car off and locate the water pump and the water pump drive belt in the engine compartment. Use the wrench set to loosen the belt retaining bolt and pull the belt off of the pump. Spin the belt drive with your hands to see if it rolls smoothly and to determine if there is any movement or %26quot;play%26quot; in the driveshaft. If the pump seems in good working order, replace the belt, tighten the retaining screw back up, and move on to Step 3.

    Step 3

Locate the coolant drain plug on the bottom of the radiator and use the wrench set to remove it. Allow all of the coolant to drain out into a container and dispose of it. Replace the drain plug in the bottom of the radiator and then pour coolant into the radiator. Start the car up and watch the level of coolant carefully. If the water pump is working properly, the coolant level should drop quickly as the pump circulates coolant to other areas of the engine. Fill the radiator back up with coolant and watch it to drop again. If the coolant drops then your water pump is fine, however if the coolant drops very slowly or not at all it may be time for a new pump.

93 Honda Civic Engine Swapping etc. ?

If my Engine and or Tranny are acting weird or start to die out on my 99k miles 93 honda civic dx will it be expensive to get a new engine and or tranny ? I see them going for like $200.. but how bads that labor ? (1k?) And how hard would it be to do it myself ? I know how to change a thermostat, but beyond that im clueless.. but very hands on... Hondas seem easy though because theyre so small, am I right ?93 Honda Civic Engine Swapping etc. ?first thing first. Which is it? The engine or the tranny. It be a waste of money to replace the engine when yours could be ok.

You need to get someone to look at it for you and tell you what could be wrong, then plan what you are going to do.

Have a 1990 hoda accord wont start?

i changed the oil and replaced the pan gasket, changed the thermostat had to disconect 2 sensors to get to the thermostat did not disconect battery.. put everything back the way i took it off did not break any wires off ...or for get anything went to start the car and car wont start any ideals, on why it wont start by not disconnecting the battery when i took off the sensors have anything to do with it? and if so how do i reset the the brain tryed to disconect the batery and reconnecting car turns over just wont startHave a 1990 hoda accord wont start?Sounds to me as if a trip to the local Honda repairman for a little talk is advisable.

If your battery power is low, charge it.

Check the connections that you disconnected to make sure -- if you can do it without loosing all the new oil you put in.

You didn't touch by mistake the wires from the ignition system?

Sorry, not much help -- if your car turns over, I would try again, this time floor the accelerator and keep it there - no pumping -- while you let the engine turn over for a little while. If it is flooded this should help.

Edit: perhaps by means of a voltmeter you may be able to determine from the outside if inside sensors (if that's what they were) are connected properly?Have a 1990 hoda accord wont start?it sound liek ur crank sencor got disconected other then that then ur rotor module got burned out .unless it's newer brand andrun on a module and coil .Have a 1990 hoda accord wont start?sounds like your crank sensor(located by the pan gasket on the engine block) it may have come disconnected without your knowing.

    2000 Chevy Malibu need help?

I need to change a thermostat in a 2000 Malibu can someone help me by giving some direction on how I can do this it is my first time and i know where it is just need to know how to do it from there2000 Chevy Malibu need help? This may or may not help. Most thermostats are in a half round housing at the end of the large top or bottom radiator hose.

Usually there are 2-3 bolts holding it on.

It would be best tho, as suggested, to buy a book or check the library.

Make sure you look at it when you take the old one out to see which way it is facing.2000 Chevy Malibu need help?I would go to the nearest parts store and buy a Haynes or Chilton manual. If you don't want to buy one, go to your library and look in the reference section. Just find the section that would help you the most and shoot some copies of it and you should be good to go.2000 Chevy Malibu need help?Don't get a stat that is 2 cold-It will mess up the computer because it won't run in closed loop. The coil on the stat needs 2 face the incoming flow of water.A 195 degree is probably what U need.

  • Just purchased a 04 VW Jetta. Overheated and am not sure how to fix the problem. Has 93,000 miles on car.?

Took for drive %26amp; water temp peaked to top. Changed the thermostat %26amp; still having same problem. Did not loose any prestone or fluids from car. Any suggestions on what the problem might be? ThanksJust purchased a 04 VW Jetta. Overheated and am not sure how to fix the problem. Has 93,000 miles on car.?Its definitely the water pump. VW uses a plastic impeller, it tends to crack and separate from the metal shaft. The water pump is driven off the timing belt, so its a bit of work to replace.Just purchased a 04 VW Jetta. Overheated and am not sure how to fix the problem. Has 93,000 miles on car.?water pump?Just purchased a 04 VW Jetta. Overheated and am not sure how to fix the problem. Has 93,000 miles on car.?check fan clutch,if its running hot at idle ,if running hot when going down rd look at radiator, make sure you have ac off when testing.Just purchased a 04 VW Jetta. Overheated and am not sure how to fix the problem. Has 93,000 miles on car.?Is this slow, in town driving? If so the cooling fan should have come on; make sure its on when the car gets about 3/4 hot on the gauge and you are idle or driving slow. Also, run your hands around on the radiator. You want to see if there are any cool spots on the radiator. If the car is overheating the radiator should be hot all over. If its not, then its plugged up. That is a common problem.

With a programmable thermostat by enerstat, how do I change from f to c?

Without knowing exactly which model it is, it's tricky to know for sure. I've attached a link to at least one Enerstat users manual. It says that you should simultaneously press the %26quot;s%26quot; and %26quot;t%26quot; buttons.

Even if this isn't exactly your unit, its worth a try.

    2000 Nissan Xterra?

does anyone know how to change a thermostat in a 2000 Nissan Xterra?

I have looked and I think its the lower hose, but i'd rather not take off the timing belt...

Is there an easier way?2000 Nissan Xterra?Follow the top raidiator hose back and the place where you see it terminate that is where your thermostat is

Cold air coming out of vents yet set temp reads 74?

my temp reads 74. my set temp is at 82. how can i get the vents to consistently blow out hot air. the heating guy came over. but everytime he comes, it blowing out hot air. the hot air doesnt last long. its like hot air for 30 min. cool air for about an hr, hot air- 30 min. and so forth. the heating guy changed the thermostat. right as we speak. its blowing out hot air. Cold air coming out of vents yet set temp reads 74?The furnace may be too small for your house and/or your home insulation may be too weak if the room temperature reads 74 when you want 82.

Cold air coming out of vents yet set temp reads 74?It sounds like you are tripping out on the high temp limit on the furnace.

Nothing wrong with the wall thermostat if the fan keeps blowing. Changing that was dumb. If the fan keeps going blowing cold it means the wall thermostat is still calling for heat. If it was the wall thermostat the unit would just shut off.

I have had customers shut off half the vents in the house thinking they will save heat and then call me to fix an overheating furnace.

Or they put filters in the return, in the furnace, and in each vent too and wonder why it is not acting right.

Plugged filters and a dirty blower wheel will do that as well. How long since the blower was cleaned? Ever? Could be a bad high temp limit switch too, or both if it takes an hour to reset.

First check I would do is measure the heat rise at the vent closest to the furnace while it is running %26quot;hot%26quot;. It should be about 30-60 degrees above room temps. Modern furnaces operate closer to the lower than the upper. The heat rise will be marked on the model number plate.

Some times people don't realize they have closed so many vents. They vacumn over them and close them by accident. They shut off a couple to put a couch over it. Then others so as not to blow on a plant or blow curtains around then shut off one unused room or so. Before they know it most of them are closed and the furnace overheats.

Go around and check each one to make sure it is open, don't assume.

Good LuckCold air coming out of vents yet set temp reads 74?Hello,

Just a thought but you might have an air leak from a damper or from the pipes somewhere . Take a smoke pencil and start checking around all the pipes in the crawl space or basement at the furnace , and anywhere else you can to find an air draw.

    Good luck

Married woman i need your advise?

Hello I am 24 years old tomorrow and i have been married to my husband for 2 years almost and we are already having some problems. In December we had a beautiful little girl and now we are always arguing and he has gotten more controling and has been irritating me a lot more sense i had our daughter. Monday thru Friday I am stuck in the house all day every day and on weekends i wanna go do laundry or something he has to drive me. I have a truck but it needs the thermostat changed and we have the part but he hasn't been able to fix it cause its been very cold outside lately and we haven't had the money to take it to the shop. We have 2 dogs and he doesn't take care of them i have to everything while all he does is work and come home a sit on the couch on his phone. He doesn't even help with our daughter either and he will sit there and watch my every move with her and lecture me if i do something he doesn't like. Now he wants me to move in with his grandpa and help take care of him and take care of 2 dogs and a 2 month old. I would have no vehicle so i can go do whatever instead of being locked up and he said if i wanna go somewhere his mother or my parents can drive me. It feels like i have no freedom at all and I can't just get in his car and go when ever i want cause its his and nothing is ever ours when it comes to him. I am a at home mother and wanna go back to work so i have something i can call mine and it sucks when you have no daycare cause its $40 a day here, and no vehicle to look for work and everything either. I wanna get some money i have to have a good reason for needing it and OMG i hate this but i dont know how to talk to my husband about this with out him getting the wrong impression or him getting angry either.

Is it wrong that i feel like i have no freedom? Is it wrong for me to feel all this anger toward my husband? Does my husband watching my every move with our daughter make me a bad mother when she is my 4th child and his 1st child? Is it wrong that i wanna have a vehicle if i am gonna be living with his grandpa outside of town where i cant walk to go anywhere? (if i wanna walk some place i would be walking 5 miles into town!!!)

Please help me out here!!!!Married woman i need your advise?tell him how you feel, say come here lets colm down for a minute, talk about it, your conversation will help you, tell him about your problems, and if you are going to get a devorce dont because it would be horrible for the kids i would no my parents are devorced and i no about alot, so tell him how you feel try your best to find a close job,and than when you get enough money for a car, get one, than find a better job for you that you like that mite pay better, than you can stop you other job,but trust me say i dont want to start a fite if it starts and trust me never get a devorceMarried woman i need your advise? It doesn't take long to fix a thermostat,20 minutes at most, you need to put your foot down, now before it goes any further.Married woman i need your advise?can the other kids help any u said u have 4 kids...u could be suffering from post partum depression or being drawn further into a mentally abusive situation that will become more and more difficult to get out ofMarried woman i need your advise?a) the thermostat on the car costs less than $10 and it's as easy to change as the oil

    b) tell him you need to dump the dogs.

    c) Your world is what YOU make of it. If it sucks, it's your fault. You always have options. Think of what YOU need to do to make your situation better and do it. Make this your motto and your world will improve because you take full responsibility for everything that happens.Married woman i need your advise? This is what i would do how old is your daughter by the way..(well its okay forget it) so during the day call a friend and ask her if she wants to go out to eat?...(Set it up around the time your husband comes from work..) so when he comes tell him you will be right back (if you need to pump milk whatever do it before he comes home ..........okay so then leave with your friend and go and have a good time ........then when you come home tell him where you went but if he gets mad tell him why you left .........(this might not work if your husband might think you were cheating on him) ......oh yeah when you get in the car and about 5 min. into the drive call him and tell him that your leaving to go out with your friends...............whe you come back home and your done explaining if your daughter is asleep start to give him lots of romance and explain to him how you love him but how he has been acting lately...............GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oxoxoxoxoxMarried woman i need your advise? When you child is a little older maybe you could be a day care center for a couple of kids and make some money.

On the weekends, gather your laundry and hop in his car and go do laundry. He will have to take care of the kid.Married woman i need your advise?Open your own day care. Let people pay YOU $40 a day to watch their kids. Then you can have some income of your own. He'll also need to get your car fixed in case one of the kids has to go to the ER or something.

As for your feelings, that's exactly how I'd feel in your situation. That's why I decided long ago NO KIDS! And your husband sounds like a control freak. And a lazy bum, if he won't help with his own kid.Married woman i need your advise?I don't think its wrong that you feel that way, you have you reasons to do it. I am married too, no children, but his things are mine and mine are his and I think that is the way a marriage should be, plus communication. I don't think its wrong you want a vehicle, what about if you need to take the baby to an emergency (hoping that never happens) or you just need to get out to get food or diapers or something. Plus on top of that take care of an elder person, I mean, you have a lot already. Talk to him, try to do it calm, but there is no other way beside putting everything on the table and dealing with the issues. Plus, why does he wants you to move with his grandfather, you have a baby to take care of. Put everything on the table and explain to him your needs and that he needs to help you take care of the baby, after all is his too. I hope you get everything ok. Good luck.Married woman i need your advise?i'm not married :)

but I think you should just sit him down, look him in the eye and say

%26quot;a. Help me with the dogs or I'm not going to take care of them anymore.

    b. Come with me to fix the thermostat.

    c. It only costs a few bucks.

    d. We have a daughter who only has a mother.

    e. If you are going to force me to be your father's caretaker you are getting me a new car since you work all the time.

    f. I'm getting a job.

    g. I'm capable of taking care of our daughter so stop criticizing me.

    h. seriously, I LOVE YOU.%26quot;

and yes you have a right to feel that way because if I were you I would go insane.Married woman i need your advise?Don't let him treat you that way, he is your daughter's daddy not YOURS!!!!!! have a back bone stand up for yourself. When you married him you married his belongings as well, so his car is your car and you have every right to drive it when you please. Have you talked to your family about this? what do they say? All I can say is %26quot;Do you%26quot; dont ever let some one run your life for you, you can be a good wife and take care of you kids with out him having to tell you anything. You get married to SHARE your life with your husband and not for him to take over your life. good luckMarried woman i need your advise?no, NO moving in with his grandpa, you'll throw your youth away caring for some old man, find a friend and start being more independent. you need to be around women in their 20's, and please go to a bible based church.Married woman i need your advise?I be telling him that he needs to get busy on that thermostat, If something was to happen while he was at work and you needed to get somewhere fast, you wouldn't be able to get there. Make sure that he understands your worries. And i wouldn't go back to work so soon if you can afford it, wait till you don't have to pay day care because it get expensive, wait until the baby starts school, and if you do go to take care of grandpa, u will definitely need a car so if you need to you can get him to hospital if need to. My hubby tried that stuff with me and i decided i would put my own part in my own car, it pissed him off but we together finally get it put back together, he didn't like that fact that the neighbors where watching me fix my own car in the front yard by myself. and now we been happily married 17 yrsMarried woman i need your advise?since you are the caregiver of the dogs, call the animal shelter and ask if they can take them. next tell your husband that you are not a nurse, and furthermore, they are not your grandparents to take care of. while an occasional visit, and an offer to stay and relieve your inlaws would be a nice suggestion on your husbands part, it is not your responsibility.

furthermore, yes you do need a vehicle (especially with 4 kids) to get around in. i dont care if its just to the dollar store to look at a pair of panties, this is 2009!!!

you are a mother and should be enjoying that, not being miserable!!!

sounds like you got a real winner there

  • So i have a 98 mitsubishi eclipse 98 gst. When i drive it, it doesnt go pass 3000 rpm when i push the pedal?

So basically the car starts fine and I can rev up the car just fine. However when I drive the car the car will not pass 3000 RPM and when I try to it feels as if i let go off the gas pedal and if i try to gradually increase the RPMS the car starts to shake/ starts bogging/ (that feeling when your car is about to stall when you leave it on gear and let it go to 0mph). So basically it is restricting me to stay under 3 KRPMS and can only go up to like 60 mphs because of this. When I try to floor it, it also doesnt feel right.

I was thinking some kind of simple adjustment can fix this.

Does anybody know anything about the adjustment you do for the amount of fuel that goes into the engine, that maybe the problem but I dont know how to adjust it or where it located.

The car was actually running fine. when I got my thermostat changed and the guy suggested I should loosen this screw to make not to much gas go into the engine then this problem happened.... I tightened that thing he loosened up and yet I'm still having this problem. If this sounds familiar to anyone please help me.So i have a 98 mitsubishi eclipse 98 gst. When i drive it, it doesnt go pass 3000 rpm when i push the pedal?i will keep that in mind

Why is my ford ka blowing out cold air?

its a ford ka 2 1998 s reg and it has started blowing out cold air, i had the thermostat changed but that was not the problem as the old one wasn't even broke. my dad then went to check the heater control panel which when he tried to undo the factory clips the pipes to the heater control panel fell apart, we have ordered a new heater control panel which wont be delivered till tomorrow, could this be the reason why it was blowing cold air out? as the car is quite old and the plastic pipes had perished.also can anyone give me any tips how to drain and refill the coolant system when my dad is fitting the new heater control panel? thanksWhy is my ford ka blowing out cold air?hi its proberly the heater valve they had problems with them on the ka and fiestas its located on the bulk head should have two coolant pipes going in to it and two coming out they can be tricky to replace but i would say it is that as they were always going. Also to drain and refill system you can drain at the rad by undoing the drain plug on the bottom of the rad let it drain then lock it up. refill system run it up at idle with the cap off for about 3-4 mins check level and fill just over max mark. put cap on and turn the heater to the middle position then with the car running hold the rvs at about 3000rpm for about five mins. let throttle off and turn heater to hot check you have hot air coming out vents if not repeat process. after your done let engine fully cool and check the level in the tank top if required. Why is my ford ka blowing out cold air?It is usually the heater control valve that goes faulty on the Ka and the Fiesta.

They are not expensive and they are obtainable from most good motor factors (Partco) etc. No need to go to the main dealer. Why is my ford ka blowing out cold air?Unless you drain the system completely make sure you put ford anti-freeze in. Some don't mix well and turn to jelly. Why is my ford ka blowing out cold air?10 is not old...dad should let a mechanic fix it.1..there r little doors that open/close to move heat around

2 could be plugged heater core. Why is my ford ka blowing out cold air? It's only ten years old, that's not old, not these days. Why is my ford ka blowing out cold air?To drain.. on the underside of the radiater there wil be a stopcock of some kind, possible a plastic bung looking thing ith a cross on it, like a massive phillips screw, or it could be a knob.

Undo the water resevoir lid and jack the vehicle up. Using a collecting vessel underneath to collect the cooland loosen the stopcock,

If the water resevoir lid is off the water should drain. Wait till its all gone then tighten the stopcock back up.

(note to get to the underside of the radiator you may need to unscre the plastic cover under the vehicle using an allen key or a torx key.

Lower the vehicle and with the resevoir lid off and the heaters control on %26quot;hot%26quot; and the fan on, start the engine (have plenty of coolant mixed to hand!!)

Start filling the reseviour with the engine running. Do this slowly. Fill to max let it go down, fill to max, let it go down.. it shouldnt take long, a minute or two. At some point the water will stop going down below the max line (dont overfill!)

Replace the water resevoir lid and allow engine to warm up. Check for leaks top make sure everything was tightened up properly.

If all is working once the engine has warmed up the heaters should blow hot.. if so all is done.

Dispose of used coolant correctly, i.e. not down a drain but in a sealed container to the local tip who can dispose of it properly.

check it the next day to make sure its not gone down and top up if neccesary, check for leaks on ground if the level has dropped a lot. Tighten and retop up if required.

How do u change flush a heater core?

In a 1999 ford Taurus, 3.0 L engine, not the doh engine, just the regular 3.0 engine, the coolent does have a brownish tint to it. I've had radiator flushes every single year, but i still have no heat. i heard that flushing the heater core is different, so I'd like to know, step by step in how to do this correctly. My thermostat was changed yesterday, I've touched the pipes in the firewall(was told these are the heater core hoses) and one was warm(luke) and the other was warmer(more than luke), but i still have no heat, my heat blows like luke warm to cold, and it takes a long time to get up there. Help please! How do u change flush a heater core? When you flush the system it runs through the heater core if it isn't heating up correctly try putting a thermostat in that runs a little hotter. I had to do this with a vehicle I owned as it wouldn't blow out hot air it was luke warmHow do u change flush a heater core? You can buy a kit from Canadian tire or Auto Zone for about $7.00 and all you do is hook a garden hose on it start the car then turn on the water. Also you should add a winter thermastat. This will allow the antifreeze to warm up more before it gets cooled off in the rad. If this still doesn't work then put a piece of cardboard in front of your rad.How do u change flush a heater core?flush and drain cooling system.

there is a chemical called C.L.R. you can buy it in most any hardware store. buy 2 lengths of heater hose long enough to reach the heater core and come out the hood enough to get a funnel in one of them, run the other into a bucket under the car. pour the CLR into the funnel and let it run through the heater core. follow with distilled water. reconnect heater lines from motor. refill cooling system with proper mixture of antifreeze and distilled water.

this doesnt always work (about 50% of the time) but its easier and cheaper than a heater core replacement. especially in a taurus. How do u change flush a heater core?IF YOU HAD THE DONE ON A REGULAR BASIS THEN THE HEATER CORE WOULD HAVE BEEN FLUSHED OUT AT THE SAME TIME.

IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT YOURSELF JUST REMOVE BOTH HEATER LINES FROM THE HEATER CORE AND FLUSH IT OUT WITH YOUR GARDEN HOSE.How do u change flush a heater core?you have a valve that control the flow for the heater core, some are controlled by a vacuum or cable when you select heater or the temperature, check the vacuum system for leaks,.because when the controls are working fine the water in the heater core should flow freely heating up the core.I hope this help.

  • Problem with 88 Cadillac Fleetwood 4.5L?

I've got a Cadillac Fleetwood commercial chassis with the FWD 4.5L. Last time I drove it all was fine, but the other owner had it for a couple of months and replaced the radiator hose due to a small leak where the hose had rubbed through.

Now that I've got it back, the temp light comes on after very short trips of 10 miles or less. It was low on coolant when I got it and put 1.5 gallons in it to fill it up initially. I checked the next day, it was again low, and that time I put over 2 gallons in it, started the car, checked it again - and again no coolant to be seen in the radiator. When running at idle, it blows tons of white smoke out the tailpipe.

I've checked the oil, it's not overfull nor does it appear to be mixed with coolant. My initial thought was the head gasket since I'd been told one one Cadillac engine there was a special procedure for a thermostat change otherwise the gasket could blow. But, as I said it's losing over 2 gallons in less than a minute of running at idle. Also, when the temp light came on I tried to turn the heat all the way up to dissipate some of the heat, but I got nothing out of the vents (probably because there was no coolant to circulate).

Does anyone have any ideas here? I'm wanting to sell the car, and have a buyer waiting - but obviously I can't sell it if the engine is having a major issue. As I said, I haven't had the car in a couple of months so I have no idea how it was treated in that time frame, or what if anything was done to it. Also, the fan temp light occasionally kicks on as well.Problem with 88 Cadillac Fleetwood 4.5L?Before replacing the head gaskets be sure to check the intake manifold gaskets. That engine is notorious for bad intake gaskets that give all the symptoms of head gasket failure. Also if it does happen to be the head gaskets that are bad be careful when removing the head bolts because they have a tendency to pull the aluminum block threads out when removing them. You should have a shop perform a cooling system pressure test and a cylinder leak down / compression test to determine what it is that's causing the problem because the more you drive it while overheating the more damage and money your costing yourself. Good luck and hope this helps.Problem with 88 Cadillac Fleetwood 4.5L?22 years old and blowing 2 gallons per min out the tail pipe? You have a blown head gasket , big time. or you have a large 7 cyl water pump. 2 gallons is almost a full system. Pull the plugs. That should indicate which bank needs a gasket, Just better off to do both sides.Problem with 88 Cadillac Fleetwood 4.5L?yeah i think its your head gasket if the smoke on the tail pipe smells like anifreze its your headgasket
