How do you change the thermostat in a 97 Dodge Intrepid?

The car went from cold to overheating in two blocks. When the heater is blowing hot air, the car is fine, but sometimes the heat stops blowing and cold air starts coming out, causing the car to overheat. I know it needs changed, but can't figure out how to do it.How do you change the thermostat in a 97 Dodge Intrepid?Shaggy's on the right track. You have an air pocket, and/or you're low on anti-freeze. That's the only way you could be overheating within 2 blocks. Even if the thermostat were welded shut it wouldn't do that. The lack of heat from the heater is another symptom that supports this.

That's not to say that your thermostat isn't ruined by now. Try this. After you replace the thermostat, which is located under the thermostat housing here;

  • How do you change the thermostat in a 1997 mercury sable?

I just need to know where its located, what tools I need. How do you change the thermostat in a 1997 mercury sable?OK, first, you have to be kidding. If you have no knowledge or tools, DON'T try. I'm sure someone in your %26quot;circle%26quot; of friends can do it for you. If not, take it to a shop and have it done properly (won't cost much.)How do you change the thermostat in a 1997 mercury sable?Follow the top radiator hose to the engine block, it ends at the thermostat housing. Mine is a 5/8 ths bolt on my 95. You will also need a screwdriver for the hose clamp, possibly a scraper to scrape off the old gasket if there is one, the new thermostat, gasket and new coolant. I would replace the upper hose while I was at it.

good luckHow do I change the thermostat in an 1999 Pontiac Grand Am?it should be fairly easy. follow the radiator hose the one on the top. once you found were it connects to the engine, there will be to bolts. undo those and there is your thermostat. you shouldn't need any special tools. make sure you use a new gasket and put the thermostat in there strait. be careful when putting the bolts back in the holes. make sure they thread easy so you don't cross thread. that could be a big problem. one more thing you need to do as soon as you take it apart is clean all the previous gasket off and make sure you are working with a flat surface. before you go and drive somewhere make sure the fluid levels are correct and no leaks.

How do I change this thermostat?

My house has separate furnace and air conditioning systems. The second floor thermostat is the older kind that you have to set to either %26quot;Heat%26quot; or %26quot;Cool%26quot; plus dial it to the desired temperature.

I would like to replace this with thermostat where I just set the temperature -- and the heat or A/C comes on automatically as needed.

Is that a simple wire-for-wire swap that I can do myself? Thanks. How do I change this thermostat?1. Get a t-stat that is designed for conventional heating. and one that operates on batteries so you don't get confused with having to connect a common wire.

    2. On the new t-stat. Rh will be used for the red wire coming from the furnace. and W - for whatever color is used for W on the old t-stat.

    3. Rc will be used for the whatever is used for R - on the old a/c t-stat. Connnect whatever color that goes to G on the old a/c t-stat to G on the new t-stat. and the same for Y.

If there is a jumper wire installed between Rc and Rh from the factory - you will need to remove it.How do I change this thermostat? There are the computer controlled thermostats available they run around $45 and up and use a battery. they aren't hard to install just hook up the wires and the hard part is the set-up.How do I change this thermostat?every one I have seen is either or switch has three positions heat on top cool or a/c on bottom center position offHow do I change this thermostat? The old on-off thermostats will not work for what you have planned. How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?

All of my fluids are topped off, and the defrost works and the a/c works.. but the heat doesn't work. Is that the thermostat? How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?seems to me like you have an in-line valve to your heater core that is closed. look under the hood, find the lines that go to the heater core and see if there is a valve, the cable from inside may have come loose. there also might be a cable to the duct that has come loose under the dash area, good luckHow hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?Depends what kind of car...generally they are very easy to replace. How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car? It's easy in mineHow hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?Could be, but could be a number of other things too. If your car is overheating then it is most likely the thermostat. It's very easy to replace. Takes about 10 minutes depending on where it's located. How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?depends on the car if its easily acsesable a piece of cake. unless you do like i did once and used the wrong bolt and broke it part way down. then you need a drill and tap(ps where the world did spell check go?)How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?It is very basic, and yes, even you can do it ! Wait until after the engine has cooled. Toward the front of the engine, right on top,( in most cases) there is a big hose. It goes from the radiator to a metal thing that looks like a small softball. There are 2 bolts that hold it down. Unbolt them and the thermostat is right there for you to pull out and replace. Make sure it goes in right-side-up. Take carefull notice as to how it looks before you remove it. Make sure, also, that the gasket is still complete. Good Luck !How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?Probably not if the defrosters work. Sounds more like the cable that switches between heat,A/C,etc.Or possibly a vaccuum line is off,(change your radio lately?).How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?your thermostat allows the engine to maintain it's operating temperature.

If the thermostat is locked open (broken) the engine would have a hard time heating up. Your temperature gauge would stay in the %26quot;blue zone%26quot; and the heater/defroster would blow out cool to warm air.

If the thermostat is locked closed (broken) the engine would overheat. Your termperature gauge would be in the red zone soon after getting on the highway. Your Heater would be producing lots of hot air.

So if both your defrost and heater settings are producing just warm air and your temperature gauge stays in the cold/warm zone, it's probably your thermostat.

If the defrost pours out hot air, but the heater does not (they use the same source for heat, the heater core) then you have a broken or damaged flap in the dash that is not allowing the hot air to go through the heater ducts.

To replace your thermostat, go to your local automotive store and pick up a repair manual. It will walk you thru the steps to replace the thermostat. It is usually located in the top front of the engine, held on with two bolts. You may have to drain your radiator to make this repair. The antifreeze is resuable, so don't throw it away unless it's really cloudy, then recyle it.How hard is it to change the thermostat on your car?your thermostat has nothing to do with heated ventalation it mearly controls the flow of coolent from the radiotor to the block the problem you are stating is a heater core and its most probably blocked or just jacked up so to fix this you will have to take it out and either flush a stream of water or get a new one which might be cheap or most likely cost you an arm and a legHow hard is it to change the thermostat on your car? It's not hard, but the thermostat controls the temperature of the engine not the operation of the heater? Good Luck!!~:)=

How do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?

I haven't looked under the hood of my step daughters car but her boyfriend couldn't get to it. Her boss tried and couldn't get to it. Anyone have any suggestions for when I take a look? Apparently it's in a location that you can't get to which I find hard to believe. It has to be a way to get to it to change it. What are they doing wrong and what do I do right? How do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?I feel your pain.

Follow the upper hose. you should see the wires from the temp sensor protruding from the thermostat housing.

The housing is usually mounted with two bolts.

It is a tight squeeze. remove the mass air hoses if needed for maneuvering. Mine I had to remove a heat deflector of the exhaust manifold for better access.

    Drain coolant

Remove the upper hose at the thermostat housing.

The bolt size should be a metric 13mm.

I bought a set of box wrenches with an elbow and ratchet on the end. Expensive but worth it. They are cheap at Lowe's. remember the elbow is important.

I had only 2 degrees movement and took maybe 10min for removal but it was worth not having to remove more compo nets for maneuvering.

Remove old thermostat and gasket. install new one. use appropriate RTV sealant on the housing matting surfaces. tighten

Put everything back in place. pour in coolant. and your done. How do you change a thermostat in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?I figured out the best way. I told her to take it to the repair shop, have them change it and I'd pay for it. lol

You are going to have to take off the throttle body, where the throttle cables are connected and after you remove this you can see 1 of the bolts from the top, just loosen the top bolt a couple of turns with a open ended wrench it notched out and doesn't have to be taken out all the way. the bottom one is kind of hard but you can just fit a socket with a extention under the exhause pipe to remove this bolt, this one has to come all the way out. then this aluminum radiator neck should slide out of there. Should be 2-- 13mm bolts holding this on.

How would I change a thermostat in 92 Buick Roadmaster?

My husband and I tried to get the bolts off each side and the one bolt is extremely long. We decided to let it alone. I have a new thermostat as the car lacks heat. This would be the obvious place to start. That one bolt-how long is it? It is the one on the right if you are facing the car. The rest of the situation I think I can handle. Pointers are appreciated. How would I change a thermostat in 92 Buick Roadmaster? The kind of engine would be helpful. Speaking in general terms, follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. That metal piece that it connects to should be most likely angled and somewhat rounded, That's the thermostat housing. The 2 bolts you talked about are most likely the correct ones if they are on either side of that rounded housing. I don't really understand the problem of a long bolt. Is it hitting something or you just think it shouldn't be that long? Most of the time those housing bolts are about twice as long as they appear that they should be and sometimes it is difficult to get them all the way out because of interference with some other component. One more tip. Be absolutely sure you get the new one in the right direction or you will be worse off than you are now. Sometimes they will not fit incorrectly but sometimes they do. The side with the spring and copper tube on it goes in the engine side. And be sure it is seated in its groove properly or it will not seal.

That's about all I can do without more details. How would I change a thermostat in 92 Buick Roadmaster?take the water pump off and it is right in there... car that old you prob dont even need to replace the old one... just take the old one out and leave it... wont have a problem then

Have an independent shop garage replace the thermostat before you damage your $4000 engine. Don't be %26quot;penny wise and pound foolish%26quot;!How do you change the thermostat for a 2003 Hyundai Elantra?you remove the coolant hose fitting at the engine, and it's behind there. book labor time is 0.7 hrs. the hard part is getting the air out of the cooling system- you may have to jack up the front of the car to bleed it all out. At a shop, they use a vacuum / pressure filler, which sucks all the air out, then refills it under pressure in about a minute. It may take you an hour to get it out. You'd just have to let it run. The advantage of having a shop do it, is you could probably use a coolant flush anyway. Thermostats are pretty reliable if the coolant is in good shape. You can always call around to other shops, and ask them what they'd charge. They should be able to give you a price over the phone for this, but i'd plan on spending at least $125-150. $200 isn't outrageous. A lot cheaper than a new engine. How do you change the thermostat for a 2003 Hyundai Elantra?really easy most anyone can do it for under 50 bucks ...first go to any parts store and just ask forwhat you need like buy coolant and new thermostat and new gasket you wil fin dit by following top radaitor hose back to motor remove hose and the housing hose was attact to most offen two bolts and lift might have to tap it or pry it lightly to brake the gasket loose will then scrape off old gasket and repalce how you pulled it out not hard right refill radiator crank car watch flow drop and rise add more coolant as it needs it check for leaks pretty much sam eway on every car made and never go to a dealer unless theres no other shop open they wil be the highest and really any shop would do here is a few videos of how its done really every easy job maybe a good hour work on most cars you can look under hood and see where top hose is and tell how easy it is if you can see bolts just remove and your got it

How can I change the thermostat that controls the heat in the house?

I have a 3 family unit, where the heat is controlled from the 1st floor. I live on the 3rd floor. The 1st floor people keep complaining that it is cold, the temp is set to 72, and they have a space heater which distorts the temperature. I need to have the thermostat move to the 3rd floor. How can I change the thermostat that controls the heat in the house? If there is currently one thermostat it's safe to assume that there is only one furnace, correct? If this is the case there is no simple fix. For the units to have their own thermostats there must either be separate furnaces or be part of a zoned system. Creating a zoned system would mean installing electronically controlled dampers that will vary the amount of air sent to each unit.

If you just want to move the thermostat to the 3rd floor its no big deal. A wire just has to be run from the third floor to the furnace. Just remember that heat rises. If you set the temp at 72 on the third floor the first floor will be much cooler. How can I change the thermostat that controls the heat in the house? The thermostat is your zone control and when you place the thermostat, remember this. You can turn the thermostat up, the heating unit will run until that particular thermostat reaches the temperature you have asked for.

How do you change a head gasket in an 89 Honda Accord LXi? Also how do you change the thermostat on this car?

Can you change the Head Gasket by yourself or is it a complicated job for the mechanic only? Where is it located on a 89 Accord engine, and what tools would i need if i am doing it by myself?

Also, is the thermostat easy to replace on this car? If so, is it easily accessible within the engine? Where is it located, and what tools do i need for the job?How do you change a head gasket in an 89 Honda Accord LXi? Also how do you change the thermostat on this car?Well I will try to answer the thermostat part. Simply follow the large hose out of the top of the radiator until you get to the engine. There will be a clamp holding the hose onto a metal piece that has two bolts. Remove the clamp and the bolts. The thermostat is underneath and should be easily removed and replaced. Some vehicles have a gasket that is replaced at same time, and should come with the replacement thermostat. Simply reverse the process to install and refill any lost anti-freeze with standard 50/50 mix of antifreeze/water. IF you don't know where the radiator is, this repair is best left to a mechanic.

Unless you have a torque wrench, I would leave the head gasket to a mechanic.

    Ford orion thermostat change?

Hi, Ihave a Ford orion with a 1600 CVH engine, And i need to change the thermostat. How hard is it and how do i do it? Thanks.Ford orion thermostat change?piece of cake,2 or three bolts should be undone from the thermo housing which should be located on the top of the engine block, undo the rad pipe first, then take out the bolts,if the housing does not come away then gently prise using a medium screwdriver.once the housing is off ,take out the old stat and replace with new on,make sure it is the Right way round as you will not have any cooling if it is closed all the time, then once you have replaced the part .replace the housing using a liquid sealer .and sortedFord orion thermostat change?you may need to drain the radiator and coolant expansion tank first, otherwise you might find yourself and the engine having a anti-freeze/coolant shower ,it is recommended as good practice to drain then flush the entire cooling system

and refill with new coolant and water after the thermostat has been refitted ,also make sure you get the gasket with the thermostat, they have a habit of going missing from the box

as i have made the mistake of not checking and getting home to find its not there in the box, some are cardboard or rubber or both.

ps:when i say drain and flush the entire cooling system i mean a forward flush with the radiator in the car

that is not including a reverse flush on the radiator

to do this you normally need to remove the radiator from the car.[its done to remove rust blockages and suchlike]

  • Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat?

The car is a 92 sentra. I Need to change the thermostat, can anyone easily explain what I need to buy, and step by step how to change it? I know a little bit about cars (I can identify what the thermostat looks like) But really need to fix my car asap without paying someone else to do it. THANKS!!!Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat? You'll need a new gasket along with the thermostat. The thermostat is located where the top radiator hose connects to the engine. There should been a metal housing that you'll have to disconnect, using a socket wrench and probably a 1/4 or 3/8 inch driver. Take out the old thermostat and gasket, clean off any remaining gasket with a putty knife clean it well, make sure you don't get any debris in the opening. Put in the new thermostat and gasket. Tighten the metal housing back up. You should be able to do this without having to disconnect the upper radiator hose. Good luck. Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat? You're welcome. Glad to be of help. Did you do it by yourself?

Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat? You need to buy the thermostat and gasket.

Follow the top radiator hose down to the engine, the hose will goto the thermostat cover. There should be 2 bolts holding it on. Take out the 2 bolts and pry off the cover which will be attached to the hose. Pull out the old thermostat, replace with new. Put new gasket on then cover back over the thermostat and bolt it down. Thats it.Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat?Though most procedures listed here are correct the first step is to drain about 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator at the drain plug in the bottom of the radiator, this should be done while the engine is cool. If the fluid is not drained you will have it drain through the thermostat opening when you remove the cover. Also if your engine is overheating you could have a low coolant level, bad water pump, blown head gasket, cracked head, cracked block etc.Can anyone easily explain how to change a thermostat?Go to the library, and look for a Chiltons car manual. they will have your year and model. and copy the pages. A thermostat will cost you between $3.00 and $5.00. they are not that expensive. If your car is getting overheated, it may be a fan that cools your radiator. You need to remove that part, it is inside of that.

Be sure you don't put it in upside down,it will go in wrong.

How to change a thermostat in a 1995 Saturn SL2?

I need to change the thermostat and I wanted to know exactly how to do that without having to go to the car shop and spend more money.

Thanks!!How to change a thermostat in a 1995 Saturn SL2?How do you know you need to change the thermostat? Did your car overheat?

Anyway, the thermostat is usually at the engine end of the upper radiator hose and you take that housing off, 2 maybe 3 bolts, lift up and there is the thermostat.

Clean mating edges on block and housing use plenty of gasket sealer and a new gasket and viola, it's done.

Of course if something might be in the way you have to get it out of the way.How to change a thermostat in a 1995 Saturn SL2?BEST ADVICE. You want to do this yourself? Go to the auto parts store and buy a repair manual. Don't take a word for word off a public chat site.

How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy?

I need a description on how to change the thermostat on a 1997 Jimmy. I don't really have experience with this sort of thing but I heard it's easy to do yourself. Please include whether or not I need to drain anti-freeze and if the car needs to be cool when I change it.How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy?Anytime you are going to work with the cooling system, you need to make sure the car is cool. Not an extra step you need to know, just common sense.

A thermostat is one of the simplest things you can change. Basically, you're just going to follow a hose about 2 inches in diameter from the top of the radiator near the cap and trace it to the top of the engine. Unscrew the hose at that location and the thermostat will be visible after you remove the hose. Careful not to spill too much antifreeze when you remove the hose. If you do it right, you won't have to add any more antifreeze. Put it back in the reverse order.

If you spill antifreeze, make sure no pets drink it.How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy?Drain some coolant into a clean container until the coolant level is below the thermostat housing.

Remove the upper radiator hose connection from the thermostat housing.

Loosen the housing bolts and remove the housing.

Remove the gasket and scrape it carefully from the surface of the housing and the mounting surface on the engine. If the gasket remains on either of the surfaces, there will probably bea coolant leak after reassembly. Some engines use a rubber O-ring to seal a thermostat housing.

Compare the size of the thermostat to the old one. They are of different sizes, types, and temperature ratings.

The temperature rating is stamped on the sensing bulb on the bottom of the thermostat. The temperature bulb faces the block.

When replacing a thermostat, be sure that the thermostat fits into the groove in the block or outlet housing. If the thermostat is installed upside down, the engine will overheat.

    Install the gasket.

Reinstall the thermostat housing. Refill the system and run the engine or pressure test to check for leaks.

When the engine has reached operating temperature make sure the thermostat opens.

You should be able to see coolant circulating within the radiator.

Another way of checking thermostat operation is to feel the top of the radiator hose or use a thermometer or multimeter with a temperature probe to confirm that the coolant is warming up.

If the engine is overheating, but the top hose is still cool to the touch, the thermostat is stuck closed and must be replaced.

    NOTE

When a paper gasket is used and the recess is in the thermostat housing, it is a good practice to position the thermostat into the recess and glue the gasket to hold it in place. If it falls out of its groove during installation, the outlet housing can be cracked or a coolant leak will result. Before tightening the water outlet housing, try to rock it back and forth to be sure it is flush. Housings are often cracked during this step. How to change the thermostat on a 1997 jimmy? For starters it is not that hard to do. I would however purchase a repair manual and have it handy when doing the job. Yes you will have to drain off some of the radiator fluid. I can't remember off the top of my head if you can change it out without removing the plenum but I know you will have hoses to remove and the location of them can be confusing. Good Luck

How to check if Honeywell V8043E1012 value is working. I first changed thermostat and still no heat.?

I then traced the wiring but I'm not too sure if all the wiring is bad or that perhaps the value itself has shorted out. I am still able to manually open it and get heat while the other zones are on.

Is there a simple way to test the value without pulling down all the wiring ?????

Any and all suggestions are welcomeHow to check if Honeywell V8043E1012 value is working. I first changed thermostat and still no heat.?You need to find the two leads coming from the valves coil. Using a voltmeter, check for 24V across the leads. If voltage is present and the valve does not open, its bad. If you do not get 24V and the thermostat is sending it, you have an open wire between the stat and valve. Could also be an open common usually jumped valve to valve.

The bolts that hold the thermostat housing on tend to be overstressed, and break when you try to take them off. Then, you could end up spending a paycheck getting the broken bolt out, having the block re-tapped, getting an odd sized bolt put back in the hole, and your antifreeze will leak out of this housing from now on.I am a female atempting to change thermostat in a cryslerlebaron 1992 3.0 motor any good free sites to see howPersonally I would recommend the Chilton Manual. Get the manual. How to change thermostat on my 89 C1500?Yeah dude buy a repair manual, it will save you a lot of time and trouble. For the time being, to replace the thermostat on a chevy small-block (I am assuming yours is a 5.7, but they are all the same) you will need to locate a large hose coming out of the top of the radiator and curving towards the center of the engine (called the upper radiator hose). It ends at about the middle of the front part of the intake manifold. Remove the hose at the engine (manifold) end. The fitting that you just removed the hose from is called the thermostat housing. There are two bolts holding it down. One of them will have a stud on the opposite end with a nut on it. Remove the nut and the wires underneath it (they are actually ground wires for the alternator, etc.) and then remove the bolts. The housing should then come off (it may be stuck so you may have to pull hard to get it off). Underneath the housing is the thermostat (which may also be stuck and can be removed with pliers because it does not have to be saved). There might be some fragments of the old gasket stuck on to the bottom of the thermostat housing or on the intake manifold where the housing bolts on. This should be removed with a putty knife. Replace the thermostat and put on the new gasket and reassemble everything.

  • Volkswagen jetta 97 overheats how to change thermostat?

My volkswagen Jetta 1997 overheats and fan does not come on. I want to change the thermostat. Is it hard. Where do find it under the hood? Is it hard to do this? Can I get a manual on the internet that shows me how? ThanksVolkswagen jetta 97 overheats how to change thermostat?I would suggest that before you start looking ar replacing the thermostat, that you try and isolate the problem.

    a. You mention the fan does not come on. - Have you checked the fuse for the fan.

    b. Have you checked if the fan motor is functional. - This is easily done by applying 12 v from the battery directly onto the fan motor leads. (you do not have to worry about which is positive or negative for this test.)

    c. Are you sure that the sensor unit to switch on the fans is working. Generally found at bottom of radiator. I while back I was puzzled with exactly the same problem. Changed thermostat, checked if fans worked by supplying power directly to them, only to discover it was the sensor unit not working. Did not switch on as temperature rose.

After checking the above three items I would then do the following checks

    1. Is V- belt driving pump not loose and slipping.

    2. Check in vicinity of pump if there are a few drips of coolant dripping under the pump it is likely the pump but remember the coolant may not make it to the ground.

for following tests engine must be warm - so make sure the top radiator hose gets warm after 5 minutes

    3. Pump impeller that may have sheared. To check if pump is operating, take of radiator cap and run car for a while, you should be able to see water circulating (movement of water (will not occur while engine is cold as thermostat stops flow). - if you can move the throttle with you hand under the hood, cables running to a connector on springs when you hit the throttle is should suck the fluid down with the radiator cap off.

    4. Thermostat not opening - as above, but no indication of water movement even when engine is hot

    ----------------

Note sometimes difficult to distinguish between last two.

The thermostat is located at the driver's seat. If you are going to change it, you have to follow the hose from the radiator until you see a tube with two bolts, inside of that is the thermostat. How to change thermostat on 2001 chevy malibu? Before replacing the thermostat, you should check to verify that the electrical connection is intact and that the heat sensor is working! Since you say that the guage never moves, the wiring should be checked. Even with a defective thermostat the engine will usually heat up enough to show some reading! Unless you are in a very cold climate!

The computer checks the engine temp before starting and after a few minutes. If no change is registered, the computer sets the code.

    Nothing is simple any more.

-omgyay_dotcomHow to change thermostat 1994 chevy suburban? why isnt temp gauge working? There could be a lot of reasons for OVERHEATING.

    1st reason (Low fluid level)

2nd reason Thermostat isn't working properly

3rd reason (Fluid needs to be replaced)

4th reason (water belt is loose)

5th reason (air compressor was aerating and getting air pockets )

6th reason (Air Fan doesn't work properly)

Try to remove the thermostat and drive for few days and if everything will be okay than just replace the thermostat with new one.

You can get thermostat from any parts store or on ebay.

Gauge needs to be fixed too, check the fuses. How to change thermostat 1994 chevy suburban? why isnt temp gauge working?it is very easy. just two bolts. what you will do is basically fallow the upper radiator hose too a little metal piece comming off of the front of your block. take this off and the thermostat is sitting inside there REMEMBER WICH WAY IT IS SITTING SO YOU DONT PUT IT IN BACKWARDS!! LOL(most likely the front) before youe take this out though take the radiator cap off just to relieve pressure in the system if there is any. and colant will spill out obliviously so get something to catch it. and your gauge is most likely not working because your ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor is not working. this also can cause your engine not to run to its peak performance. some cars have two ect's and some have one: one to control a gauge, and one for an input for the computer. but that is just a hunch at what could be the prob. good luck hope this helpsHow to change thermostat 1994 chevy suburban? why isnt temp gauge working? Can we assume its a 350 %26quot;V8%26quot;..the Thermostat can be found at the opposite end of the %26quot;Top Radiator Hose looking from the radiator, in other words where the radiator hose hooks to the engine. Its a Aluminum adapter plate with two machine bolts. You remove those two bolts after you have removed the hose and you will find the thermostat. Notice how its mounted in there..and replace with a new one with a new gasket.

The Temperature gauge sensor will be on the right side as you face the engine, near the first spark plug. It looks like a brass plug with a wire connected to the center of it...

Both parts are very easy to replace.

How do you change thermostat on a 1993 acura legend?

Car is a 1993 Legend L. New radiator, but before heat comes out of vents the temp needle goes all the way to Hot and then the Tstat opens and heat bellows from the vents. Heat is maintained unless I come to a stop in which case the needle goes back up to Hot and the tstat opens again.

Is this a basic bad tstat problem? How do you change thermostat on a 1993 acura legend?i own a repair shop, and yes it could be a bad thermostat,,and also a bad cooling fan causing some of this to happen but he thermostat is located in the housing at the end of the top of the radiator hose on it,,there's a housing there ,and its behind that housing,,you,ll have to drain some of the coolant out of it or it will gush out on you ,,then remove the housing ,and clean off all the old gasket, and replace the thermostat ,don't over tighten the bolts up on these ,,the brake the housings real easy,,re-fill the system and that should be it,,start it,and make sure there are no leaks in it,,good luck,i hope this help,sHow do you change thermostat on a 1993 acura legend?it could be a bad thermostat or it could be that your fan isnt working.also flush out the cooling system. How do you change thermostat on a 1993 acura legend?Find out if your coolant is full. If you have a leak somewhere then air pockets form and tend to get trapped espically in the heater core. If it is full then you could replace the t-stat with a high probability of success.

Does anyone know how to change thermostat and sparks plugs on 04 Chevy Trailblazer?

I am currently having engine problems and i really dont know what is causing it. I am getting a code p0128 and they tell me that it could be the tstat or the spark plugs. Can some one please help? the car turns off everytime i go on reverse and when driving it looses power.Does anyone know how to change thermostat and sparks plugs on 04 Chevy Trailblazer? You can read the coolant temperature in the dash. It should be between 195 - 205 when the motor has warmed up. The thermostat is a %26quot;bear%26quot; to get to on the 5.3 motor as it's on the right side 3/4 of the way down near the fan shroud. The 4.3 thermostat is in the normal location. AC-Delco iridium spark plugs and * AC-Delco ignition wires should go on the vehicle at no more than 75,000 miles.

If the motor is loosing power at highway speeds one of the 6 or 8 ignition coils (you didn't say which motor you had) may be at fault. Take it to a Chevrolet dealer an let them scan your on-board computer to find the real fault of your problem. Don't use off-shore box-store ignition parts on a GM product.Does anyone know how to change thermostat and sparks plugs on 04 Chevy Trailblazer?go to autozone.com and registar your car they have an illustrated free directions for doing the job. the spark plugs dont know or care if your in reverse or park. the thermostat doesnt either but the temp cpuld be being affected by the other issue. if the engine runs fine at idle in park but stall imediately when put in gear the problem could be #1 a bad nutral safety switch, #2 a vacuum leak, #3 the tps throttle possition sensor is acting up and loosing its signal the autozone sight will give you what that code is as well. please note the code isnt a direct pointer to the problem it gives a general system that is acting up

You can either smach it with a soft rubber mallet, or your hand.

There is a rubber seal and it is just melted into place - it will need to be replaced also.

Then you can get to the tube, and the problem wont be so bad
